Usually it takes me between 3-4 hours to get to Yosemite, but in the winter the pass closes and we can't get in from the east side of the Sierra. I have not seen Yosemite in the winter since my childhood.
So decided to take the long way around 9-10 hour drive. Stayed on the valley floor so I could get up to shoot the sunrise. But the sun never came out, it dumped all day.
I didn't get my spectacular sunrise shots, however, I did have the whole valley floor to myself for a couple hours. It was so quiet, the only sounds I heard were waterfalls, the river, and some occasional ravens. It was like I was the only person in Yosemite, It was the most incredible experience, I can't even describe it.
